Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Led by a $140,000 filly and a $130,000 colt, Dublin topped all New York freshman sires by average at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Preferred Sale, August 9 & 10.

Eleven Dublin yearlings were sold during the two-day venue, for an average price of $69,818, more than nine times the stud fee. No other New York stallion with more than one yearling sold had a higher average.

The Saratoga New York-bred sale has become one of the mainstays of the yearling market, and sires represented include a full complement of the nation's best stallions. The Dublin yearlings at Saratoga included colts who sold for $130,000, $67,000, $67,000, and $62,000, and fillies who sold for $140,000, $105,000, $60,000, and $55,000. Purchasers include some of the nation's top buyers, including Whisper Hill, Bradley Thoroughbreds, Linda Rice, Champion Equine, Sallusto & Albina, Gary Broad, and Kings equine

Dublin covered 83 mares in New York his first year at stud. By Afleet Alex out of Classy Mirage, by Storm Bird, Dublin stood the 2014 season at Keane Stud for $7,500 live foal.
