B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm announced stud fees for its 2012 roster of stallions, which is headlined by leading sire Malibu Moon. The roster also includes seven new stallions that will stand among Kentucky, New York and Canada, led by 2011's leading older male Tizway.
Malibu Moon, a Top 5 General Sire again in 2011 and A.P. Indy's leading son at stud by stakes winners seven years running, will stand for $70,000 stands and nurses. Multiple Grade 1 winner Tizway will stand his first season for $25,000 stands and nurses, and joins Grade 1 winners Archarcharch ($10,000 stands and nurses) and Paddy O'Prado ($15,000 stands and nurses) as new stallions at the Lexington-based farm, along with recently-retired Grade 2 winner Wilburn ($6,500 stands and nurses).
Spendthrift has expanded into Canada and New York for 2012, now giving them stallions in four regions in North America including Kentucky and Louisiana. Recent Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) champion Court Vision will stand his first season at Park Stud in Ontario for a fee of $10,000 stands and nurses, along with Grade 1 winner Victor's Cry ($5,000 stands and nurses). Grade 1 winner Dublin will stand his first season in New York for a fee of $7,500 stands and nurses at Keane Stud in Amenia, NY.
