Saturday, May 14, 2016
Arcature held off the late charge of Tristan's Trilogy to take the $75,000 Singletary S. by a head Saturday at Santa Anita Park, the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old son of Archarcharch.

The winner is one of a half-dozen stakes horses this year by Archarrcharch, who ranks third by earnings and second by winners on the 2016 Second-Crop Sire list.

Sent off the odds-on favorite, Arcature tracked the pacesetting Mr. Roary through a half-mile in :48.03 seconds, then made his move for the lead around the final bend. Clearing off in mid-stretch, Arcature dug in late to finish just in front of Tristan's Trilogy in 1:35.95 for the mile on the firm turf.

Arcature, trained by Simon Callaghan for Arnold Zetcher, boosted his bankroll to $105,170 and improved his mark to 2-1-0 in four starts.

Bred in Kentucky by Phillip, Hunter and Claire Hager, Arcature sold to Zetcher for $250,000 at the 2015 OBS Spring 2-year-old Sale.
