Archarella sharp in turf debut

Wednesday, August 26, 2015
Archarcharch racked up his seventh winner from his first crop, second-most of any 2015 freshman sire, when Archarella zipped to a two-length win in an “about” 7 ½-furlong Delaware Park maiden special weight affair on Wednesday.

The dark bay filly, who looked like she wanted more ground in both her prior dirt sprint starts, responded strongly going two turns on the grass, battling for the lead through six furlongs, then sprinting away in the stretch to win handily (VIDEO).

Kentucky-bred Archarella is one of six winners out of her dam Cuccinella. The 2-year-old was bred and sold by Equus Farm at the 2014 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
