Big numbers continue for Malibu Moon at OBS

Wednesday, March 13, 2013
After a strong opening day, the sales returns continued to be top-notch for Malibu Moon during closing day of the March 12-13 OBS Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale.

The Spendthrift stallion matched his first day total with another three 2-year-olds bringing six figures from bidders. However, he had a personal sale-topper on day 2 when hip No. 343 was bid up to $485,000, with Gary Young, agent for Deron Pearson, signing the winning ticket. The final price was the third-highest over the two day event.

Consigned by Eisaman Equine, agent, the Kentucky bred colt has already been named Peregrine Falcon. He comes from the Unbridled's Song mare My Way. She is the daughter of Mine Only, one of the top broodmares of the last 30 years. Her foals include Academy Award, winner of the Grade 2 Early Times Manhattan S.; Grade 3 winner Statuette, dam of Irish highweight 2-year-old Tomahawk; Grade 3 winner Good Mood; and Chosen Lady, dam of Graded stakes winners Well Chosen and In Contention.
