Condo Commando rolls in Grade 1 Spinaway S.

Sunday, August 31, 2014
Tiz Wonderful’s 2-year-old filly Condo Commando turned the $350,000 Spinaway S. (G1) into a one-horse race with a rollicking 13 ¼-length victory over a very sloppy Saratoga track.

Despite a tardy break, Condo Commando hustled up the inside under Joe Bravo and was battling for the lead midway down the backstretch. She set the pace around the turn, and with the rest of her foes unable to gain ground, she opened up in the lane to cruise home the easiest of winners.

The final time for the seven furlongs was 1:24.68.

Trained by Rudy Rodriguez for Michael Dubb, Bethlehem Stables and The Elkstone Group, Condo Commando is undefeated in two starts and has earned $243,600 after the $210,000 Spinaway payday.

Bred in Kentucky by Spendthrift Farm, Condo Commando is out of Yearly Report, a three-time Grade 2 winner of $835,900. Dubb was the winner bidder, at $72,000, for the filly at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Tiz Wonderful is the second-leading Third Crop sire with $3.25 million in progeny earnings to date. With eight juvenile winners and three stakes winners, he also ranks second on the 2014 Two-Year-Old Sire list.
