Court Vision's finale comes in G1 Breeders' Cup Mile

Wednesday, November 2, 2011
Court Vision will wrap up a stellar racing career in Saturday's $2 million Breeder's Cup Mile (G1). The Spendthrift color bearer will be retired to stand stud in 2012 following the race at Churchill Downs on Nov. 5.

A winner of $2,666,658 over five seasons, Court Vision was beaten less than three lengths in last year's running of the Mile, also at Churchill Downs, and was fourth in the 2009 renewal.

The 6-year-old has competed against the best of his generation for since late 2007. At 2, he won the Iroquois S. (G3) and Remsen S. (G2); at three he took the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby and Jamaica H. (G2); at four the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile; and at five the Gulfstream Park Turf H. (G1) and Woodbine Mile S. (G1).

In this year's Breeders' Cup, he'll make his first start for trainer Dale Romans. Court Vision is out of the unraced Storm Bird mare Weekend Storm, a full sister to Summer Squall and half-sister to A. P. Indy. He is a full brother to Hong Kong stakes-winner Garcia Marquez, and he is a half-brother to graded winner Smart Surprise, stakes-winner Lord Snowdon, and stakes-placed runners Hailstone, Weekend Strike, and City Weekend.
