Malibu Moon

A pair of fillies shared the spotlight for Malibu Moon during Monday's opening session of the Aug. 6-7 Saratoga Select Yearlings sale.

Topping the evening was hip No. 109, consigned by Four Stars Sales, agent for Spendthrift Farm. Bridlewood Farm was the winning bidder, at $500,000 for the gray/roan filly. She is the second foal out of Silverette, a three-time stakes winner of nearly $400,000 and a half-sister to $1.2 million earner Going Ballistic.

A little earlier in the session, Taylor Made Farm Sales Agency's hip No. 92 went to Phoenix Thoroughbreds for $400,000. The chestnut filly's dam Ruby Lips has one other foal, a 2-year-old winner this year, and is a sister to three stakes horses.

Fillies were the feature on Monday for Malibu Moon, while on Tuesday he has an additional five lots, all colts, cataloged for this evening's session, which begins at 6:30 p.m. ET.
