Malibu Moon

The Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearlings sale proved to be a hot spot for colt by Malibu Moon early in the second session of the August 4-5 auction, with a juvenile by the Spendthrift stallion bringing $600,000 by the time the gavel fell.

Hip No. 109 was consigned by Eaton Sales, agent. The bay filly was purchased by Highland Yard. She is the first foal out of Trail Magic, who is a half-sister to the Grade 1-winning millionaire Sweet Talker, as well as the multiple graded stakes winning colt Silver Medallion.

Buyers were plenty eager for Malibu Moon's offspring during the Monday session as well. Hip No. 63 fetched a winning bid of $500,000 from Stonestreet Stables. Consigned by James Herbener, Jr., agent, the filly to Rattlesnake Bridge, a stakes winner who also was runner-up in the Grade 1 Travers.

Debbie Oxley placed the top bid of $350,000 for hip No. 97, a colt from the Denali Stud consignment. The chestnut juvenile is out of the top race mare Street Sounds, winner of the Grade 2 Beaumont S.
