Spendthrift Farm’s Hit it a Bomb, War Front’s winner of the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1), sired his first reported foal on January 17th when a filly was born at Chasing The Sun Stables in Wallingford, KY.

Bred by Michael Wood, the bay filly is out of the mare Risky Art (GB), a two-time-winning juvenile in England during her racing career.

“We are very happy with her. This baby is absolutely correct with nice size and good bone,” said Wood.

On the racetrack, Hit It a Bomb became the lone Breeders’ Cup winner for international sire sensation War Front when he overcame a wide post to win the $1,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) at Keeneland. The win capped off an undefeated season, which also included back-to-back victories to begin his career in Ireland.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien, the regally-bred bay retired to Spendthrift with career earnings of $626,821 for owner and breeder Evelyn Stockwell. Out of the stakes-winning Sadler’s Wells mare Liscanna (Ire), Hit It a Bomb is a full sister to Group One winner Brave Anna, and full brother to current 3-year-old Threeandfourpence, who ran fourth behind U S Navy Flag and Mendelssohn in the Dewhurst S. (G1) to close out his juvenile campaign last fall.

Hit It a Bomb is set to stand his second season at Spendthrift for a fee of $7,000 S&N. For more information, please contact Des, Mark, or Brian at 859-294-0030, or visit
