Freedom Child first-timer breaks maiden by nine lengths

Tuesday, September 5, 2017
Jamaican Don's debut at Thistledown on Labor Day was nothing short of spectacular as the 2-year-old son of Freedom Child came away a 9 1/4-length winner in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight affair (VIDEO).

The winner was the second for Country Life Farm's Freedom Child, who stood for a fee of $3,000 in 2017 and has 36 named 2-year-olds this year.

Jamaican Don was in control from the start, setting all the pace before widening through the stretch while under a hand ride.

The winner is owned by Jason DaCosta and was bred in Maryland by Candyland Farm. The first foal out of D D Renegade, Jamaican Don hails from the same family as four-time Grade 1 winner Lite Light.
