Freedom Child's Limited View takes $100,000 Lassie at Laurel Park

Limited View overcame a near-disastrous start to win the $100,000 Maryland Million Lassie S. Saturday at Laurel Park to become Freedom Child's first stakes winner from his initial crop.

After having some trouble in the starting gate, Limited View broke very slow from her outside post in the field of 11 2-year-old fillies and found herself about 15 lengths from the lead after the first quarter mile.  The bay filly began to find her stride as she entered the turn, picking off horses while well off the rail.

At the top of the stretch Limited View had about six lengths to make up. She finally hit the front with a sixteenth to run, winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:12.15 for the six furlongs.

Limited View has won three of four starts and upped her earnings to $117,096 for owners John Salzman, Jr. (also her trainer), Fred Wasserloos and George Greenwalt.

Freedom Child's first crop also includes stakes-placed Jamaican Don. Winner of the Peter Pan S. (G2) by more than a dozen lengths, Freedom Child stood the 2017 season for $3,000 live foal at Country Life Farm.
