Friday, September 17, 2010
Three juveniles from the first crop of Osidy broke their maidens from Sept. 15-17.  The 8-year-old son of Storm Cat now has five winners from 12 runners to date, which puts him on top of the freshman sire list in Louisiana, where he stands at Elite Thoroughbreds.

Katy's Kitty kicked off the trio of winners on Sept. 15, when she scored by a length as the 2-5 favorite in a six furlong event at Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. Out of the Seeking the Gold mare Alcippe, she hails from the same family of Better Than Honour, dam of Belmont S. (G1) winners Jazil and Rags to Riches. Katy's Kitty is owned and bred by John Liviakis.

Cavalero got his first win in his racing debut Sept. 17 at Turfway Park. The gray or roan colt, owned and bred by Jeffrey Kazmark and Arlene O'Neill, won the the six furlong dash by a widening 1 3/4-lengths.

Completing the trifecta of winners was Sosidy, a gate-to-wire winner by two lengths going five furlongs at Retama Park on Sept. 17. B. Wayne Hughes bred the bay filly in Louisiana. She is out of the stakes-winning mare The Yellow Sheet, who earned $217,490 in her career. Sosidy is owned and trained by Jerenesto Torrez.

Osidy was bred and is owned by Spendthrift owner B. Wayne Hughes. Osidy began his career in France, where he was third in a Group 3 at Longchamp. Moved to the U.S. at age three, he won the grassy Will Roger S. (G3) and placed in the Cinema H. (G3) and Del Mar Derby (G2).
