Pricedtoperfection, a full sibling to stakes winner and multiple graded-placed Miss Temple City showed she is one to follow in her older sister’s footsteps following a flashy three-length win in an 8 ½-furlong maiden special weight contest on the Belmont Park turf.
Pricedtoperfection, who was third in her Aug. 23 debut at Saratoga, came from eighth after six furlongs with a five-wide rally under Irad Ortiz, Jr., blowing by the field to win by three lengths in 1:43.60 on the firm lawn.
The winner is owned by Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence, who bought the 2-year-old Temple City filly for $230,000 at this April’s OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds.
Temple City, a top-10 Second-Crop sire with seven stakes horses to date in 2015, is approaching the $2 million mark in progeny earnings this year. Miss Temple City, who was second in a last week’s QEII Challenge Cup (G1) at Keeneland, is the lifetime leading earner for her sire.
