Georgia's Reward pulled away in deep stretch to secure her first stakes win in Saturday's $100,000 Rainbow Miss S. at Oaklawn Park. The 3-year-old Warrior's Reward filly was making just her fourth lifetime start and her first in stakes company.
The five-horse field was tightly bunched for the first half-mile, and at the head of the stretch it looked like anyone's race. Georgia's Reward was between horses in third, and with some strong urging from David Cohen, she emerged with the lead with less than a sixteenth of a mile to run, ultimately winning by 1 3/4-lengths in 1:11.98 on a fast track [WATCH RACE
“You know she put in a very good effort today. She definitely had to work hard for it, but she showed a lot of heart today. Really set up the way I thought it would,” said Cohen.
Trained by Ron Moquett for JRita Young Thoroughbreds, Georgia's Reward is now 2-0-1 in four starts and has earned $115,375.
