Get Mad gave his sire Don't Get Mad his latest winner with a neck victory at Laurel Park on Nov. 6 in a six furlong maiden event for 2-year-olds.
Get Mad showed a very strong closing kick to get the win in his second career start. He was still some five lengths back in mid-stretch, but came home with a powerful kick to be up time.
Owner Marshall Dowell purchased Get Mad at the OBS Spring 2-year-old sale this past April. The bay colt was bred in West Virginia by Charles A. Woodson. Out of the Numerous mare Numerous Moves, Get Mad is a half-brother to three winners, including four-time stakes winner We're in the Money, who earned over $300,000. Numerous Moves is a half-sister to Mr. Sinatra, who won five Grade 3 stakes on the NYRA circuit.
Eight-year-old Don't Get Mad, who was bred in Kentucky, was raced by B. Wayne Hughes. By Stephen Got Even out of the twice Grade 3-placed Jolie's Halo mare Class on Class, Don't Get Mad won the Indiana Derby (G2) at Hoosier Park and both the Grade 3 Northern Dancer S. (where he set a stakes record of 1:42.46 for the 1 1/16-miles) and Derby Trial at Churchill Downs. In just seven days after the Trial, he came back in the Kentucky Derby (G1), where he was fourth beaten about three lengths.
