Great beginning at Keeneland Nov. for Malibu Moon

Tuesday, November 8, 2011
The Keeneland November breeding stock sale got off to a fantastic start for Malibu Moon with a pair of  distaffers by the Spendthrift stallion bringing seven figures during the first two days of the sale.

Malibu Prayer, part of the dispersal of the Edward Evans estate, brought an even $2 million from the sale's leading buyer, Besilu Stables.

Cataloged as hip No. 161, 5-year-old Malibu Prayer won the 2010 Ruffian H. (G1) and 2009 Chilukki S. (G2) as the highlights of a 6-4-2 record with earnings of $618,026. She sold in foal to Smart Strike.

Just a few minutes before Malibu Prayer sold, 6-year-old Life At Ten went through the ring as hip No. 152, bringing a winning bid of $1.95 million from Frank Stronach's Adena Springs farm. The mare was consigned by Three Chimneys, agent.

Life At Ten won $1,267,015 in her career, with wins in the Beldame S. (G1), Ogden Phipps H. (G1), Delaware H. (G2), and Sixty Sails H. (G3).
