Hung the Moon charges home in the Wild Rose S.

Hung the Moon came from fifth at the half-mile mark to win the $50,000 Wild Rose S. Monday at Prairie Meadows Racetrack, the first stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Malibu Moon (VIDEO).

A Pin Oak Stud homebred, Hung the Moon is Malibu Moon's sixth stakes winner of the year and 16th stakes horse overall.

Hung the Moon made her winning move in the 1 1/16-mile contest coming into the stretch, slipping through along the rail to get by Hitechnoweenie and draw clear to a 1 1/4-length victory. The final time was 1:44.58 on the fast track.

Hung the Moon is now 4-1-0 in 10 starts, earning $133,775. Out of the Storm Cat mare Storm Breaking, Hung the Moon is a half-sister to Dulcify, who was stakes-placed at two. Storm Breaking is a half-sister to Whimsy, another Pin Oak homebred that was a stakes winner at Prairie Meadows.
