Into Mischief filly much the best in $100,000 Lassie S.

Sittin At the Bar's popular eight length victory in the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Lassie S. put Spendthrift Farm's freshman sire Into Mischief over the $1 million in progeny earnings, one of only three first year sires that have surpassed the seven-figure mark.

Sent away the prohibitive 3-5 favorite, Sittin At the Bar was a half-dozen lengths off a sizzling quarter mile of :21.66. Veteran jockey Mark Guidry took the 2-year-old filly well off the rail around the turn, taking aim on the leaders. Striking the front outside of the furlong marker, Sittin At the Bar quickly sprinted clear to win with ease. The final time for the six furlongs on the fast main track was 1:11.10 (VIDEO).

“She impressed me a whole lot the first time I rode her and today,” said Guidry. “You know, I think that the track is a little bit biased and she ran against the bias real good today and she accelerated nicely off the turn, had plenty in the tank. Brett’s (trainer Brinkman) team always does a great job and I am just grateful to be here today.”

Bred by Spendthrift, Sittin At the Bar has never finished worse than third in her four starts, including placing in both the $150,000 My Trusty Cat S. and Grade 3 Delta Princess within the last two months. With the $60,000 winner's share from the Lassie, the Louisiana-bred filly has now earned $155,000 for her owner Dale Ladner.
