Mischievous Mama opened up an eight length lead in a quarter mile and never looked back en route to a thoroughly dominating victory in Saturday night's $100,000 Louisiana Legends Mile Fillies S.
Along with Sittin At the Bar, the 3-year-old filly was one of two stakes winners on the card for her sire Into Mischief, who ranks fifth on the 2013 Second Crop Sire list with $1.6 million in progeny earnings. His four stakes winners have accounted for eight added money victories this year, both second-best among all sophomore sires.
Mischievous Mama came out of the gate full of run, clicking off a quarter mile in :22.86. The dark bay filly opened it up to ten lengths after a half-mile in :46.23. Don Simington gave his filly a breather around the turn, but none of her foes ever got within a half-dozen lengths, and she wrapped up the win in 1:37.01 over a “fast” track.
Bred by Spendthrift Farm, Mischievous Mama was a $50,000 2012 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale purchase by his owners Nicholas Abate and Darlene Peterson. In eight starts, the Louisiana bred has a record of 3-1-1 and earned $121,530. She is out of the two-time stakes winner Homemaker.
