Liaison weanling is session co-topper at Keeneland

Tuesday, November 10, 2015
A weanling filly from the first crop of Spendthrift stallion Liaison brought a winning bid of $110,000 during Monday’s Keeneland November sale. The price was the co-topper for the day for a weanling, tying with another Spendthrift freshman sire Jimmy Creed.

The dark bay, hip No. 2878, was consigned by Laura McKinney’s Stony Point and went to Preston Stable LLC. Rich Decker, Preston farm manager, had high praise for the filly.

“She was the best physical the last three days (of the sale), an absolute standout,” said Decker.

The Kentucky-bred filly is out of the Pleasant Tap mare Voodoo Lounge, the dam of stakes-placed Voodoo’s Argument. She comes from the same family as Grade 1 winners Videogenic and Valid Video.

Liaison, who was bred to 256 mares his first two years at stud, will stand 2016 at Spendthrift for $6,500 live foal or $8,000 as part of the farm’s popular Breed Secure program.
