Line of David colt brings six figures at FT Midlantic sale

Line of David

Tuesday, May 20, 2014
A colt from the first crop of Line of David brought $100,000 during day 2 of Fasig-Tipton’s May 19-20 Midlantic 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale in Timonium, Md., continuing the strong 2-year-old sales showing for the Spendthrift stallion.

Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, agent, hip No. 445 went to Gary Contessa on behalf of Wounded Warriors Stables, the same connections who campaign the multiple graded stakes-place 3-year-old Uncle Sigh.

The chestnut juvenile is out of the Flatter mare Safe Journey and is a half-brother to the stakes-placed filly Joy. Safe Journey's siblings include the stakes horses Kettle Won and Cognac Kisses. She comes from the same family as champion sprinter Safely Kept.

Line of David has had 15 2-year-olds sell this season for an average of $76,733, more than 12 times his 2011 stud fee of $6,000.
