Leading sire Malibu Moon enjoyed more commercial success at the annual Keeneland September yearling sale, with a pair of colts selling early in the sale for $550,000 and $400,000, respectively.
Hip No. 307, an attractive bay colt by which made a great appearance in the sale ring, was purchased by Shadwell Estate Company, Ltd. for $550,000. It marked one of the highest prices brought by a colt during the sale’s second session Tuesday. Dromoland Farm Inc. consigned the son of Malibu Moon as agent.
The following day, Hip No. 728 – another top colt by Malibu Moon – rang the bell by commanding $400,000 from bloodstock agent David Ingordo, who signed for the handsome bay colt on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Moss. Dark Hollow consigned him as agent.
