The sales results continue to roll in for Malibu Moon, as on Day 2 of the annual Keeneland January Sale on Jan. 12 his 4-year-old race-filly Bon Jovi Girl sold for $950,000.
Selling as Hip No. 499, the multiple stakes-winning and Grade 1-placed filly drew the attention of the right buyers to make her the second highest-priced lot so far of the sale, with Denali Stud signing the ticket as agent for an undisclosed buyer. Out of the Alydar mare Chipeta Springs, Bon Jovi Girl is a half-sister to the multiple Grade 1-winning millionaire Gio Ponti, the runner-up in the 2009 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1).
Bon Jovi Girl currently owns a record of five wins from 15 starts, including three stakes wins. In her most recent start on Nov. 28 Bon Jovi Girl was third in the Gazelle S. (G1) at Belmont, and her most impressive victory came in the Susan's Girl S. last summer where she earned a 103 Beyer with a runaway win.
The bay filly was sold as a racing or broodmare prospect by Gainesway Sales, agent.
