A daughter of Malibu Moon brought $300,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern fall yearling sale Oct. 1 in Timonium, Md.,the highest-priced horse sold during the one-day auction.
Ellen Charles purchased the gray or roan filly from Rick and Dixie Abbott's Charlton Sales agency for Audley Farm Equine. The Virginia-bred yearling is a half sister to the winners Touch of Success and Noble Grey. Their dam, the winning Holy Bull mare Never Fail, finished second in the 2002 Three Ring S. and third in the 2004 Boots 'n Jackie S. at Calder Race Course.
"She is a lovely, big, gray filly that stands over a lot of ground and has a great walk," Rick Abbott said. "Everybody loved her."
Never Fail is a half-sister to Schuylerville S. (G2) winner How About Now. The family also boasts champion and Vosburgh H. (G1) winner Not Surprising, Go For Wand H. (G2) winner Lovely Lil, and Abraaj, winner of the Grade 2 Alfred G. Vanderbilt H.
