Through 10 days of the Keeneland September yearling sale, Malibu Moon has gross receipts of $7,103,000, the sixth-highest figure for all stallions represented at the two-week sale. With 53 horses sold, Malibu Moon's average is $134,019, with four yearlings selling for more than $300,000.
The top seller of the group was hip No. 231, a dark bay filly consigned by Beau Lane Bloodstock, agent. The winning bid of $375,000 was made by Ben Glass, agent. The filly is out of Rebridled Dreams, winner of the Money Penny S. and third in the Grade 2 Silverbulletday at Fair Grounds. She is the dam of J. B.'s Thunder, winner of the Grade 1 Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland.
Hip No. 886, a chestnut filly, went for $360,000 to Live Oak Plantation. Consigned by Margaux Farm, LLC., the filly is out of the stakes-placed mare Kings Lynn. She is the dam of seven winners, including the multiple graded stakes winner Sara Louise, also by Malibu Moon, as well as Grade 3 winner Just Louise.
Lane's End consigned hip No. 548, a dark bay filly who went for $310,000 to Demi O'Byrne. The Kentucky bred is out of Ayla Bella, who is a half-sister to the stakes-winning Malibu Moon filly Alec's Moon.
Hip No. 25 was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, with a winning bid of $300,000 coming from Maverick Racing. The bay colt is out of the Storm Cat mare So Probable, a half-sister to Summer Colony winner of $1.4 million and the Personal Ensign H. (G1), one of six graded stakes victories in her illustrious career.
