A $250,000 colt by Malibu Moon ultimately became the top price paid for a male during the first day of the Oct.19-22 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearlings sale.

The colt, hip No. 356, was bought from JSM Equine and Greathouse Horse Property (Four Star Sales, agent) by Barolo Farm. The dark bay Kentucky-bred is out of the War Chant mare Here Comes Amelia, a half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Chief Bearhart, Grade 1 winner Explosive Red, and black type winner Ruby Ransom.

Malibu Moon, A.P. Indy’s leading son at stud for the last several years, will stand 2016 at Spendthrift Farm for $95,000 live foal, the same fee as 2015.
