Malibu Moon tops sire list with 38 winners

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Spendthrift Farm's Malibu Moon is currently on top of the 2010 North American sire list with a total of 38 winners through Mar. 11. The strong start to the year comes on the heels of a great 2009, when Malibu Moon ranked 11th overall on the North American General Sire List.

Malibu Moon's leading earner on the year is Life At Ten, a 5-year-old mare who ran her win streak to three in the $65,000 Rare Treat S. at Aqueduct on Feb. 20.

Malibu Moon also has four stakes-placed runners already this year. The quartet includes Ah Day, third in both the General George H. (G2) and Native Dancer S.; By the Light, third in the Darlin Momma S.; Malibu Kid, third in the Fire Plug S.; and Baltimore Bob, third in the Fair Grounds H. (G3) and John B. Connally Turf H. (G3).

13-year-old Malibu Moon, who is A.P. Indy's leading son at stud in terms of stakes winners, stands for $40,000 when the foal stands and nurses.
