Malibu Moon's leading colt Prospective back to winning ways

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Prospective, the leading three-year-old colt by Malibu Moon, returned to his winning ways on Sunday, June 10th with a decisive win in the $153,000 Victoria Park S. at Woodbine. The attractive dark bay colt was making his first start since running in last month's Kentucky Derby (G1).

Trained by Mark Casse for owner John Oxley, Prospective came back to the sight of his Grey S. (G3) triumph last year as a two-year-old at Woodbine. This time, he scored a comfortable length-and-three-quarter victory in the 1 1/8 mile event, stopping the clock in 1:51.08 over the local Polytrack.

Earlier this year on the Triple Crown trail, Prospective won the Pasco S. at Tampa to start the year before winning the featured $350,000 Tampa Bay Derby (G2) there. He was also a fast-closing runner-up in the Sam F. Davis S. (G3) in between those two starts.

Bred and sold by Spendthrift Farm, Prospective hails from the stakes-winning Awesome Again mare Spirited Away. He holds a record of five wins and a pair of runner-up efforts from 10 lifetime starts. His earnings now stand at $535,235.
