Malibu Moon's Obruchev breaks maiden in stakes

Wednesday, November 09, 2011
In just his second lifetime start, Obruchev made the most of his maiden win with stakes win at Tokyo Racecourse in Japan. The 3-year-old son of Malibu Moon had run sixth in his debut in September, but turned the tables with a five-length victory in the $247,489 event at one mile.

Malibu Moon is one of the top five sires in North America, with 13 stakes winners to date and nearly $7 million in progeny earnings.

Obruchev was bred in Kentucky by Bloodstock Holdings LLC. The chestnut colt is out of the stakes winning mare Chatter Chatter who has already produced three stakes performers, including Maryland Filly Championship S. winner That's How I Roll.
