Notional yearling brings $80K at Canadian sale

A bay colt from the first crop of Grade 2 winner Notional sold for $80,000 at the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society select yearling sale on Sept. 6, one of the top 10 figures for the day. The price was more than 10 times the stud fee for the Spendthrift stallion, who's first crop are yearlings of 2011.

Hip No. 199 was consigned by Susan Foreman, agent, and purchased by Mark Casse, agent. The colt is the second foal out of Castelli's Dance, who is a half-sister to the stakes placed mare Numberonedance.

Notional won the San Rafael S. (G2), Risen Star S. (G3), and Salvator Mile H. (G3), and finished second in the Florida Derby (G1) on his way to career earnings of $733,240.
