OBS 2YO Day 2: Archarcharch colt hammers for $335,000

Wednesday, April 20, 2016
The top 10 results during Day 2 of the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training included a stellar Archarcharch colt that brought a winning bid of $335,000 from Jonathon Green's D. J. Stable LLC.

Consigned by Randy Bradshaw, agent and cataloged as hip No. 416, the dark bay colt breezed :10 second-flat during the Under Tack Show last week.

The colt is out of the Grade 3-place Wild Forest Cat, whose only foal to race to date is Grade 3 winner and current top 3-year-old Toews On Ice.

“The colt was outstanding,” Green said. “He was our number one choice from day one and we're really pleased to have him. We've been around for 30 years and this is probably the highest priced 2-year-old we've ever bought, so that tells you how confident we are in him.”

With two days left in the four-day auction, Archarcharch has four horses remaining to go through the ring. The Spendthrift stallion currently ranks fourth on the 2016 Second-Crop Sire list with 19 winners and $665,007 in progeny earnings.
