Thursday, May 08, 2014
Leading Third-crop sire Tiz Wonderful got his first 2-year-old winner of the year Thursday at Santa Anita Park when Sea Mona zipped to victory in her debut in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight affair (VIDEO).

Sea Mona showed a strong closing kick in the final furlong, pulling away to win by 2 3/4-lengths after battling four-deep into the stretch.

Bred in Kentucky by Brandywine Farm, Sea Mona is a half-sister to the stakes winner Let Em Shine. Sea Mona was purchased by her owner Triple B Farms for $82,000 out of the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
