Awesome Patriot

Thursday, April 20, 2017
Freshman sire Awesome Patriot tallied his second maiden special weight winner of the prestigious Keeneland meet on Thursday when Waki Patriot scored a decisive five-length victory.

Off a bit awkwardly, Waki Patriot recovered almost immediately to be on nearly even terms with Sun Dress. The duo battled until midstretch, when Waki Patriot put away her foe, wrapping up the 4 1/2- furlongs in :52.55 (VIDEO).

The winner is owned by Donna Hancock and Charles Brown, and was bred in Kentucky by Brandywine Farm.

Awesome Patriot registered his first winner on Wednesday at Keeneland when Amberspatriot won at first asking. Awesome Patriot currently stands at Spendthrift for a fee of $2,500 stands and nurses, and is a participant in the farm’s popular “Breed Secure” program for a fee of $3,500.
