Three Lyons Racing’s Sensible Lady sprang a 24-1 upset in the $100,000 The Very One Stakes May 18 at Pimlico Race Course to give the 3-year-old Spendthrift Farm bred filly by Street Sense her first career stakes win (VIDEO).

The Tim Salzman trainee took the five furlong turf sprint by two lengths, coming from fifth at the halfway point to roll past the front-runners with a furlong to go and win drawing off under Xavier Perez. The time of :56.13 was less than a half-second off the track record.

Sensible Lady is the first foal out of the Bianconi mare Awesome Lady, a two-time stakes winner in California who racked up $310,658 in her career.
