Temple City continues ascent on Freshman Sire list

Temple City’s 2-year-old colt Henry Jones gave his sire his fifth winner from his first crop Friday evening at Churchill Downs with a game head victory in a seven furlong maiden special weight contest.

With a pair of stakes winners, including Grade 2 winner Startup Nation, Temple City is third on the Freshman Sire List with $477,880 in progeny earnings.

After a pair of tough efforts going long on the turf, Henry Jones took to the distance turnback and Churchill main track. Breaking alertly, the Wayne Lukas trainee set all the pace, drawing clear by 3 lengths in the stretch and holding sway late to secure the win (VIDEO).

Henry Jones’ victory was worth $22,000 to Holy Cow Stable LLC.
