Temple City, who recently retired as the only track record-setting son of Dynaformer at stud, will stand the 2011 breeding season for $5,000 stands & nurses and will be eligible for the Share the Upside Program at Spendthrift Farm.
Spendthrift has been successful offering the Share the Upside Program for such young stallions as Notional and Into Mischief, as well as their other first year stallions for 2011 – Warrior's Reward and Line of David.
The Share the Upside Program offers breeders the opportunity to earn a lifetime breeding right in Temple City by committing to breed one mare in 2011 at his fee of $5,000 stands and nurses. Once the mare has the resulting foal in 2012 and the stud fee is paid on the stands and nurses agreement, the breeder will have earned a lifetime breeding right. There will be no additional cost, and the breeding right will be for the life of the stallion.
“Temple City is a perfect candidate for our Share the Upside program,” said B. Wayne Hughes, owner of Spendthrift. “He has the conformation, track record, and pedigree. His sire, Dynaformer, and close kin, Malibu Moon, both started their respective stud careers very modestly before becoming the superstars they are today.”
This summer at Del Mar, Temple City broke a track record over the main track with a wire-to-wire win in the Cougar II H. (G3), defeating multiple G1 winner Richard's Kid. In his most recent start, Temple City missed by a head in the Hollywood Turf Cup (G1) last month after setting all the pace.
Temple City hails from the Danzig mare Curriculum, a half-sister to leading sire Malibu Moon.
