Tiz Wonderful filly steps up in Del Mar MSW

Sunday, September 1, 2013
Scherzinger's wide move into the Del Mar stretch carried the 3-year-old Tiz Wonderful filly into the winner's circle of Saturday's maiden special weight finale at the seaside track (VIDEO).

With 38 winners to date, Tiz Wonderful ranks third on the 2013 Second Crop Sire list.

Scherzinger was about a half-dozen lengths off the lead early in Saturday's six furlong affair, but Mike Smith got the chestnut filly in the clear on the turn, picking off horses then and into the stretch. She hit the front near the sixteenth pole to pull clear and cross the wire 1 1/2-lengths in front. The final time was an excellent 1:09.81.

Scherzinger is trained by her owner Jerry Hollendorfer, who co-owns the filly with Mark DeDomenico, Jason Litt and Alex Solis II. She has hit the board in all three lifetime starts, earning $58,524.
