Tiz Wonderful weanling brings $200K at Keeneland sale

A weanling colt from the first crop of Spendthrift sire Tiz Wonderful brought the third-highest price of the session at the Keeneland breeding stock sale on Nov. 13, selling for $200,000.

The bay colt, hip No. 1768, was consigned by Mr. & Mrs. Jody Huckabay's Elm Tree Farm LLC, and was purchased by Dennis Yokum as agent for Mercedes Stable LLC.

The colt is the first foal out of Stormy B, who sold for $67,000 at the 2009 renewal of this sale while in foal. Stormy B is a half-sister to Rush Bay, winner of the Grade 3 Jefferson Cup S. on the Churchill Downs turf. The family also includes millionaire and Grade 3 winner Chorwon and the stakes winners Yukon Robbery and Kumhwa.

An undefeated multiple graded stakes-winning juvenile by Tiznow, Tiz Wonderful annexed the Kentucky Jockey Club S. (G2) and the Iroquois S. (G3), both at Churchill Downs, as a juvenile. Entering stud in 2009, Tiz Wonderful stands at Spendthrift for $12,500, LFS&N.
