Treasured Up hits paydirt in Churchill Downs' Keertana S.

B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm LLC Treasured Up earned the first stakes win of her career with a come-from-behind victory in the $64,652 Keertana S. Saturday at Churchill Downs.

Treasured Up was unhurried in the early stages of the marathon turf event, with just one horse beat through a mile that went in 1:38.50. Shaun Bridgmohan asked the 4-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro for her best run at the three furlongs mark, and she responded with a wide sweeping move around the turn and into the straightaway. rallied wide around the final turn. Treasure Up caught Qushchi (GB) with less than 100 yards to go to win by a head.

Treasured Up covered the 1 3/8 miles on firm turf in 2:15.16.

Bred in Kentucky by Summer Wind Farm, Treasured Up was earned $39,600 for the victory, which boosted her career earnings to $168,533 from four wins, one second and three thirds in 12 starts. Spendthrift was the winning bidder, at $450,000 for Treasured Up at the 2010 Fasig-Tipton Select Yearling sale.
