Strong Incentive, a 3-year-old Warrior’s Reward filly, made her added-money debut a winning one in Saturday's $150,000 Jammed Lovely S. at Woodbine.
The bay filly, who was bred by Spendthrift Farm, is the ninth black type horse of the year for Warrior’s Reward. He leads all Second Crop sires with five graded stakes horses in 2015, and ranks seventh in progeny earnings with $2.58 million.
Strong Incentive has shown improvement in every one of her six races to date, with Saturday’s 4 ¼ length score taking her to another career milestone. A few lengths off the pace early on, Strong Incentive was under a stout hold from Alan Garcia. When he finally let her go with a quarter-mile to run, she sprinted to the front and never looked back, getting the seven furlongs in 1:22.36 on the Polytrack
"She broke okay and then was relaxed at the back," said Garcia. "She was so comfortable to the end. At one point I asked her to go and she took off. She did it so easy today. I had plenty of horse. Galloping out, I couldn't even pull her up."
Strong Incentive, a $200,000 purchase at the 2014 OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds, banked $90,000 in victory while improving her record to 2-1-0 from 6 career starts. She is owned by Klaravich Stables and William Lawrence and trained by Chad Brown.
Strong Incentive is out of the Comic Strip mare G G’s Dolly, a stakes winner of $176,460.
Warrior’s Reward, who was bred to 460 mares from 2013-2015, will stand the 2016 season at Spendthrift for $10,000 live foal.
