Warrior's Reward firsters still perfect at 4-for-4

Warrior's Reward

Friday, June 20, 2014
The incredible start for the first-crop of Warrior's Reward continued on Friday at Santa Anita when  Bad Read Sanchez rolled to a 10-length victory in a five furlong maiden special weight contest for 2-year-olds (VIDEO).

Bad Read Sanchez is the fourth starter for Warrior's Reward, and remarkably, all four have won maiden special weight affair at four different tracks. Addition, the filly Liatris also ran second in the $100,000 Astoria S. June 14 at Belmont Park.

After a spirited duel for the first half-mile, Bad Read Sanchez exploded in the final furlong to win with ease in :57.48, less than a second off the track record. The TDN also tabbed the colt a  “Rising Star”, the second designation for his sire's first four starters.

Bad Read Sanchez is trained by Doug O'Neill for Reddam Racing, who bought the colt privately after following the April Keeneland 2-year-old sale. Bred in Kentucky by the Mulhollands, Bad Read Sanchez comes from the same family as 2-year-old champion Lord Avie, who also stood stud at Spendthrift Farm.
