Warrior's Reward juveniles continue to shine

Warrior's Reward

Saturday, August 02, 2014
Warrior's Reward chalked up his sixth winner from his first crop on Saturday at Saratoga with a stellar debut performance on the grass by Strong Coffee. The dark bay colt exerted himself in the final furlong of the 1 1/16-mile contest, drawing away to win by three lengths (VIDEO).

The winner netted $58,800 for Albert Frassetto and pushed his sire's progeny earnings to $277,088, second-most for any first-year sire. Warrior's Reward leads all freshman sires with four stakes horses to  date, and is one of only three sires to produce a stakes winner.

Bred in Kentucky by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Strong Coffee was bought by Frassetto for $120,000 at the OBS Select Sale of 2-year-olds this past March. Strong Coffee is out of the top-class mare Classic Approval, who has produced 10 winners, including three black-type winners.
