Warrior's Reward sires $310K filly at Saratoga

Wednesday, August 07, 2013
Warrior's Reward sired the highest-priced filly by any freshman sire at the 2013 Saratoga Selected Yearling Sale.

Hip 125, a bay beauty out of stakes winner/stakes producer Smolensk, by Danzig, was hammered down to Borges Torrealba for $310,000, during the second session of the prestigious sale, August 6th in Saratoga Springs. It also marked the second highest price by a freshman sire so far this sales season.

The filly was the lone Saratoga offering by Warrior's Reward, and one of seven yearlings by the Grade 1 winner to sell this summer. These seven yearlings have now averaged $132,857, nearly nine times the fee at conception.

By Medaglia d'Oro out of For All You Do, by Seeking the Gold, Warrior's Reward stood the 2013 season at Spendthrift for $15,000 live foal.
