Danza filly is her sire’s first winner

Danza, winner of the Arkansas Derby (G1), got his first winner on May 1 when the 2-year-old filly My Good Girl scampered to a dominating 7 ¾-length win in a 4 ½-furlong maiden special weight race at Indiana Grand.

Despite veering at the start, My Good Girl quickly recovered to take the lead and was never seriously threatened to win as she pleased under Marcelino Pedroza.

The bay filly was bred in Kentucky by George Bates Trustee and is owned by Marcelino Torres and Manuel Quintana. She is the second foal out of Carlow Daisy and from the family of Grade 3 winner Paddy’s Daisy.

Following his Arkansas Derby triumph, Danza was a gallant third in the Kentucky Derby (G1) despite a very tough trip. He retired to Spendthrift having never finished off the board in his career.

Danza is one of Spendthrift Farm’s first-crop sires participating in the Safe Bet program, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of two-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
