Dominus 2yo storms home to take Funny Cide S.

September 4, 2020

Thin White Duke came flying down the center of the track in deep stretch to win the $150,000 Funny Cide S. Friday at Saratoga, breaking his maiden in the process to become Dominus’ newest stakes winner.

The dark bay 2-year-old had performed well in his previous starts, hitting the board each time, but was still looking for a breakthrough win. Stretching out to 6 ½-furlongs, Thin White Duke was at the back of the seven-horse field on the backstretch, then began to make up ground on the turn. Trapped behind horses in upper stretch, he swung well out into the track and stormed past Lookin for Trouble and outran Eagle Orb to win by a half-length.

Thin White Duke was bred by Phil Gleaves, who co-owns with Steve Crist, Ken deRegt and Bryan Hilliard. His earnings now stand at $120,020.
