Alan Porter Breeding Analysis for Flat Out

One of the all-time leading earners from the A.P. Indy line, Flat Out is a grade one winner from a mile to a mile-and-a-quarter. He’s a stakes sire with his first two-year-olds in 2017.

Flat Out is by A.P. Indy’s excellent son, Flatter. An example of the cross of his sire with Northern Dancer line mares, Flat Out should cross well back over mares from the line. We’ll note that Flatter has done particularly well with mares from the Danzig branch of Northern Dancer. From the Deputy Minister line, Flatter has the top-class Upstart out of a mare by Touch Gold, and a stakes winner out of a mare by Silver Deputy, and from the Sadler’s Wells line, a stakes winner out of a mare by El Prado (sire of Medaglia d’Oro and Kitten’s Joy). Flatter is also sire of the brilliant Taris out of a mare by Theatrical (by Nureyev).Congrats, the brother to Flatter, has two grade one winners out of Storm Cat line mares, and Flat Out has a stakes winner out of a mare by Storm Cat son, Forestry. Northern Dancer’s three-quarters relative, Icecapade, is sire grandsire of Wild Rush, the broodmare sire of a Congrats grade one winner.

Flatter has proven extremely effective with mares from the Fappiano branch of Mr. Prospector, including grade two winner Apart out of a mare by Unbridled, and stakes winners out of mares by PentelicusQuiet American and Grindstone. From other branches of Mr. ProspectorFlatter has stakes winners out of mares by Not For Love and Left Banker (by Afleet), and his brother Congrats has stakes winners from daughters of Distorted Humor (by Forty Niner), Thunder Gulch and Woodman.

Out of a mare from the Halo branch of the Hail to Reason line, Flatter is sire of multiple graded stakes winner Tar Heel Mom from a daughter of Sunny’s Halo, and a stakes winner from a daughter of More Than Ready. The Roberto branch of Hail to Reason has worked well under both Flatter and Congrats, with stakes winners out of mares by You and IPrized and Kissin Kris (all by Kris S.) and by Red Ransom.  Out of In Reality line mares Flatter has stakes winners out of mares from both the Valid Appeal and Relaunch branches, including champion West Coast from a daughter of Honour and Glory. Flatter also has grade one winner Paola Queen out of a mare by Kafwain, a son of Mt. Livermore, from the Blushing Groom line.
