We at Spendthrift are proud to offer breeders a diverse roster and multiple programs for 2019. We believe our 26 stallions provide opportunity for every breeder in the marketplace, and our team looks forward to working hard to make your experience at Spendthrift a good one. Spendthrift is home to perennial leading sire Malibu Moon, who proved again in 2018 why he’s A.P. Indy’s best son, siring more Grade 1 winners than any from the entire A.P. Indy sire line. Into Mischief’s incredible rise continues, and he’s truly become one of the leading sires in the world. His better-bred crops are hitting the track now, and it’s showing on the General, 2-Year-Old and 3-Year-Old Sires Lists, where he ranks in the top 3 in North America. In the sale ring, Into Mischief saw his highest-priced 2-year-old and highest-priced yearling both command $1.2 million at public auction in 2018. Spendthrift is also the proud home of North America’s No. 1 and No. 2 First-Crop Sires in 2018. Cross Traffic led all freshmen in every major category of measure. He capped off a remarkable season when his multiple Grade 1-winning filly Jaywalk clinched a championship with a runaway victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). Goldencents, Into Mischief’s first son to retire to stud, emerged as a clear No. 2 on the First-Crop Sires List, which is a tremendous early sign as to the importance and future impact of the Into Mischief sire line. Among our other successful young sires in 2018 was Jimmy Creed, who proved to be one of the very best Second-Crop Sires with all metrics showing he’s moving up his mares better than any in his class. We welcome an exciting and diverse class of new stallions for 2019 – all Grade 1 winners – including Bolt d’Oro, Cloud Computing, Free Drop Billy and Mor Spirit. We believe Bolt d’Oro is one of the best 2-year-olds American racing has witnessed in recent memory, and, likewise, Mor Spirit is one of the best milers we’ve seen. Preakness winner Cloud Computing marks the first classic winner to retire to Spendthrift since Affirmed and Seattle Slew, and Free Drop Billy was a dominant Grade 1-winning 2-year-old by popular sire Union Rags. Spendthrift is thrilled to announce our newest program for 2019 – the “Safe Bet” program, designed to help minimize risk for breeders who support our fourth-year stallions: Danza, Medal Count, Normandy Invasion, Palace, Race Day and Wicked Strong.
