$200K Hit It a Bomb filly very sharp in career bow

Miss Costa Rica tipped out at the top of the stretch and stormed past pacesetter Ready Jet Go to tally a 1 ¼-length maiden special weight debut win Aug. 28 at Del Mar.
The 2-year-old filly is the second winner for Top-10 freshman sire Hit It a Bomb, whose first, Weston, has gone on to win the Best Pal S. (G2).
Breaking from the rail in the five-furlong turf affair, Miss Costa Rica stalked the pacesetter along the fence before moving to the outside to make her winning move. She covered the distance in :57.90 on the firm turf.
The winner is owned by the partnership of Carroll Boys Racing, Sayjay Racing LLC, Jerry McClanahan and her trainer Richard Baltas.
Miss Costa Rica was bred by Spendthrift Farm and sold for $200,000 at this year’s OBS March Sale. Out of the stakes winner Five Star Daydream, she is a half-sister to the Into Mischief’s Grade 3 winner Gas Station Sushi.
