Each day of the Keeneland November sale seems to bring better results for Mitole’s first crop, the latest coming Sunday when hip No. 1432 sold for $285,000, the best figure of the sale for the Spendthrift stallion.

Bred by R B Stables and consigned by Muholland Springs, Agent, the bay colt went to Bill and Corinne Heiligbrodt in partnership with Spendthrift.

“I thought he was the best Mitole we’ve seen so far,” said Spendthrift’s Mark Toothaker. “He was just an absolutely gorgeous horse. We were so glad to be able to team up with Bill and Corinne Heilighbrodt, who obviously campaigned Mitole. So we are very excited to land this horse. We partnered up and hopefully he’ll be a runner.”

“A lot of the ones we’ve seen have been beautiful-bodied horses,” Toothaker saild of Mitole’s first crop. “This one not only had the beautiful body, he also stook over a lot of ground.”

The colt is out of the Quality Road mare Rode Warrior, who is a half-sister to graded winner Wacky Patty.

John Mulholland has been impressed with Mitole’s first crop.

“They have exceed my expectations,” Mulholland said. “This one is out of a big Quality Road mare. So I think if you breed a big, stretchy kind of mare to him, you’re going to get the best of both from what I’ve seen.”

After breeding more than 200 mares each of his first two seasons, Mitole will stand in 2022 for $15,000 live foal.
